Orbit Software Tests Four-Day Workweek
Orbit Software will begin a six-month trial of a four-day workweek on September 1. Employees will work four nine-hour days, with Fridays off, and pay will not change.
To keep customer support open five days a week, the company will use a rotating schedule so that a small team is always available. CEO Nina Park said the company will measure productivity and employee satisfaction through surveys. "We want to see whether people can do the same work in less time," she said.
Some employees have expressed concern about the longer workdays. Results will be reviewed in March. If productivity falls, the company will return to a five-day week.
