Saturday Market Moves Indoors for Winter
Beginning November 4, the Fairmont Farmers' Market will move from Central Plaza to the former Hartley Hardware building on Pine Street, where it will stay until March. The new location is heated and offers free parking in the lot behind the building.
Market organizers said the decision was made after many shoppers stayed home in cold weather last winter. "Sales fell by nearly a third," said organizer Gina Torres. "An indoor space should help us keep customers and farmers together."
Because of limited space, the number of vendors will be reduced from 60 to 35. Preference will be given to vendors who have sold at the market for at least two years. The market will continue to be open from 9:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. every Saturday.

Harlow Airport to Open New Terminal
By Beth Colman
HARLOW — Harlow Airport will open its long-awaited second terminal on March 3, airport officials announced Monday. The $240 million building will handle domestic flights, allowing the original terminal to focus on international travel. Passengers are expected to notice shorter lines at security, as the new terminal has twelve checkpoints, compared with six in the old one.
Airport director Samuel Ortiz said the project was completed two months ahead of schedule and under budget. "We were fortunate that the weather cooperated during construction," he said.
A free shuttle bus will connect the two terminals every ten minutes, and a new rail station beneath the terminal will link the airport to downtown in twenty minutes. Several airlines, including Coastal Air, have already announced that they will move their domestic operations to the new building. Travelers should check their tickets to confirm which terminal their flight uses.

Employee Spotlight: Carla Mendes
Carla Mendes joined Brightline Insurance as a claims assistant eight years ago. Today she leads the company's customer support team of 22 employees. "I started in a very small office, answering the phone," Ms. Mendes recalls.
Her promotion to team leader came after she designed a training program for new employees, which reduced the time needed to train a new agent from six weeks to three. Outside work, Ms. Mendes volunteers on weekends at an animal shelter and writes a monthly column for the company newsletter.
Asked for her advice to new employees, she said, "Ask questions, and don't be afraid to suggest improvements. The best ideas often come from people who are new."
Brightline will recognize Ms. Mendes and four other employees at its annual awards dinner on December 5.

I understand that about 70 people have already signed up for my session. I would also appreciate it if a larger room could be arranged. I will need a projector and a microphone.

Rating: 3 out of 5 — posted December 4 by Maria Reyes
We stayed two nights, December 1 to 3, with the weekend package. The room was clean, the view was wonderful, and breakfast was excellent. However, when I tried to use our spa voucher on Saturday morning, there were no appointments until Sunday afternoon, which was after our checkout. The pool was also closed for repairs during our stay. I expected a little more for the price.
